To say I was overly in love with this movie would be a blatant lie, to say I liked it would be an understatement. So thoughts on this film lie somewhere in the grey area in the middle. There was a lot to like about it, it had great hype but it kind of came of of the "little Russian film that could". What the movie does do, it does well, but comes across sometimes and trying to impress you too much. There's a few points in the story, especially in the first half an hour that you really wonder what the hell is going on and why this person is doing that etc. Even though the main story isn't finished (it's going to be a trilogy) they sub story is wrapped up nicely but the end, and your left with a little warm fuzzy feeling for about 3 mins. With such an interesting storyline, fantastic cinematography, decent directing and good acting it's hard to point out why this movie isn't fantastic. Pick it up and watch it for yourself. You'll know what I mean. You loose interest about 30 mins into the film and you never really seem to get it back. It's like watching porn with midgets in it, you don't look at it straight on, but you've always got it in the corner of one eye.
Also splurging at the moment (and I shouldn't cause I don't really have the cash to) I went out on a limb and ordered Ai Yori Aoshi PC. I downloaded the trial a while back and it seemed pretty decent. I'm not one much for Dating Sims (unless it's of the Sakura Taisen or Love Hina kind) but Ai Yori Aoshi isn't a bad series and I'm happy to support a place in Australia that's ballsy enough to get dating sims over from the US and re-licenced for distribution. Booya! They don't have all that much at the moment, but the selection doesn't seem that bad at all.
