SAIL WITH ME

Ouch,

So I found out that I have managed to burn through $600 worth of rubber in 8 months on my rear wheels. I priced new tyres tonight. Looks like I should have gotten cheapies for the back to begin with. The other problem is that air bag suspension, although totally cool, throws out wheel alignments like there’s no tomorrow. There is barley any point in getting them aligned.

Well technically it’s two sets of tyres in under two years, that’s if we count the ones on the Nissan wheels that were on the car. They were new when I got them…

Jess and I also attended the battle of the toys tonight, I’ve got a heap of pics. I’ll post them later if I can be stuffed. A little thing to remember is that I’m still learning how to manually set all the stuff in my Canon S80 camera, so the pictures have come out a little grainy as I was using the ISO400 setting. Apparently it’s a common problem. Nothing I can do about it now though.

LOOKING FOR VALIDATION

I’ve spent a good portion of the couple few days re-gearing a lot of the HTML and PHP on the site. Specifically the fanlsitings have been changed from PHPfanbase to BellaBuffs, mainly because I’m sick of screwing around with the mySQL databases that comes with running fanlistings in PHPfanbase, which isn’t supported anymore. I was going to go Enthusiast 3 but  again it needs databases set up and my host only allows me 10 and I’ve got other things I’d rather use them on. However, BellaBuffs is a neat little script that doesn’t need a mySQL database to run it’s easily intergrated and has some great features. It’s a lot easier to use than PHPfanbase and the code seems a fair bit tidier.

For the moment I’ve only managed to get the Sakura Tasien, Mutsumi and Always My Santa fanlisitngs all swapped over. While changing the scripts over I’m also validating XML & CSS using the tools at W3, so everything is nice and streamlined. There are problems that come with validating everything on a site so it takes a few hours to get everything perfect.

Still not much left to go and I’m even thinking about a layout change when I get around to doing the blog.

DAYDREAM

Well I bit the bullet and did it. I’ve purchased myself a Mint Sakura Taisen special edition Dreamcast console. It wasn’t cheap, but who cares. It’s just so cool! It’s coming all the way from the UK… don’t know how it go there to begin with… but who cares it’s all mine!

Pics?

CRUZER

CruzerSo I picked up Excite Truck yesterday. Only because I found it so cheap at KMart. I managed to clear the entire Excite class of races in about 2 hours. I like the fact that you can play your own Mp3 tracks in the game, makes it that much better. If only the SD card that I have specifically for my Wii would work with my reader… Fucking cheap nasty WD Media Center external HDD. I’m sure I’ll have to buy a new card reader now.

I bought a new USB drive as well. The old 512mb just isn’t doing it anymore. It’s not that it’s too old, despite the fact it’s a little banged up, having survived 3 separate washings and 2 years in my bag, it’s just not big enough. I got a SanDisk Cruzer and I couldn’t be more impressed. It’s a nifty little U3 enabled drive, which for the un computer people basically means you can run programs off it without having to install them to your PC. Yes, I’ve hacked mine and legitimatly got a few programs on it, Firefox, Thuderbird etc. Most of the ocntent is free for it, games seem to come at a cost though. It’s really awesome though, at least now I’ll be able to check my emails at work without the fear of anyone logging onto it and skrewing with my accounts.

If I had have known about them sooner I wouldn’t have waited so long to get one. They can also be locked down with a password (mine is), and function completly as a normal USB drive. A word to the Wise that the defualt software is pretty shit. The only thing any good would be the antiviurs and the sync tool… I suppose Skype if you use that as well. I need to find a version of MSN that is U3 compatible.

HOLLY WOOD DIED

You know what everyone wants? It's the Special Edition Sakura Tasien Dreamcast. Well maybe not everyone, but I sure as hell do. If I can mamange to get my hands on one I'd be so damn happy. It comes with a Sakura Pink Dreamcast, Controller, VMU... and some other things. I don't know much about Dreamcasts and what comes with it. All know it's it super Sakura Taisen and I want it. There's the Sakura Taisen Complete Dreamcast collection in a special boxset as well. That's awesome. Every single Dreamcast game in one box. It's special as well. That's one of the things I love about the sakura taisen series is that almost every game comes with a special edition. I'm still pissed I didn't order the Sakura Taisen Monogatari Special Version. No I had to pov out an get the gay assed normal one. Another one of the most awesome things to come out of the Sakura Tasien series is the Pocket Sakura. Remmeber those Pocket Pikachu things that counted your steps and let you play gay mini games with pikachu? Well the Sakura Taisen version is about 1,000,000 times better. It came bundled with the Gameboy Color Version of ST that it tied into. Sakura walks around Tokyo meeting other ST characters and collecting things. She walks with you, it's still a pedometer game, and there are mini games but they are less gay and more like a Tamagochi. The only thing that comes close to coolness is the PocketStation, but that's black and white and there's no "super cool" games with it. (Yes, I have a PocketStation or two). Anyway I manged to pick up a brand new PocketSakura for only $9.90US, bundled witht he game! Oh, how I love play-asia.

FANDOMANIA

Ok, after much rushing and a few PHP problems the Official Sakura Taisen Fanlisiting is now open for business! Not too shabby considering I threw it together in a few hours. You never really realise how much your 1337 coding skillz have gone down the shitter until you get back into it after not touching anything for over 6 months. It all came back to me.

If anyone wants to donate 50x50 pixel pictures I'll be happy, might save me some work.

ROOFTOPS
I've seriously found one of the best games on Wii, totally unexpected. I went over Willy's house on Monday night to have an extreme gaming session before the new baby comes rap rap rapping at his door. By chance he threw in Excite Truck and the next 6 hours was spent getting Super Air, Mega Drift and Super Truck Smashes... I'm addicted to getting Air. It's just the most awesome thing in the game. you boost up and fly, possibly landing in another car if your good enough.

Unfortunatly I didn't save, so when I do buy it I'll have to start over... Oh well.

MOVABLEWORDTYPEPRESS

I think I'm going to move this damn blog to Wordpress. At first I thought it would be awesome to use moveable type, the multiple blog thing really sounded sweet to me. But as the years have gone on I've come to realise that I'll never need multiple blogs, not ever. There was plans for a Bowser blog, but hell it's been a year and I haven't even got around to updating the page, let alone creating a car based blog. Everything gets poured into this.

You know what it's really about? I've had this awesome Southpark Buffy mood icon set sitting on my HDD for a couple of years. I mean it's awesome. I just want to implement it, but I can't. MT does't like mood icon themes. So I'll go to WP. Which means an entire site re-write, which means a theme change.

Fuck and I still have to think about getting that Sakura Taisen Fanlisting done by Wednesday. Damn, when did blogging become so complicated. I wish I had email blogging...

BLOGTRICKS
Tales from EarthSea was probably the worst Studio Ghibli movie I've ever seen. I know that's harsh, and theres a lot of you out there that will disagree with me. But lets face it, your wrong and I'm right. If you liked that movie you are retarded, actually more that retarded, retarded kids that that movie is retarded.

Now I've gotten that out of my system I'll tell you why I was so disappointed with it. For starters take a good long look at the poster. Oh Dragons and Magic I hear you say. Well your wrong, your lucky to see a dragon for 5 mins in the two hours and it seems the only magic people have is making things glow. BORING. Theres a cool magic sword and when it finally gets busted out your all like "cool, hes gonna smack that bitches ass into fiery pieces", but no. The "Magic Sword" is no more useful than a normal sword, pathetic.

I can tell your also thinking "It's a Ghibli Movie, it's going to have tear jerking moments and a be magic and memorable ride." Well its not. Apparently the son Goro Miyazaki has decided to try his hand at directing. I feel sorry for him, I don't think it's his fault the movie turned out so bad, if he had better source material I'm sure it would have been great. Unfortunately the movie just didn't cut the mustard when it came to plot, characters, music, animation, story and coolness. I was actually dozing off halfway through the movie, if it wasn't for the fat anime nerd bitch behind me that ate like a pig and laughed at nothing throughout the whole movie I would have caught some serious Zzzzz's. At least I didn't have to pay for the ticket, I would have been seriously fucked off if I had, probably would have put the fat nerd through the screen just for something to do.

It was boring as all hell, and I'm fucking lucky that I didn't break down and cry through the whole thing out of boredom.

I FEEL SO

Lets see first thing this morning I made my way into town to pick up the parts to fix the dash. Wasn't as easy as that that. I got stuck in traffic for 45 mins on Main North Rd, damn Mawson Lakes roadworks. (Anyone that drives Main North will know my frustration.) So I made my merry little way into Jaycar, I'd previously called with a whole bunch of part numbers and placed an order. Well they lost it. I dealt with it. I wasn't happy but I delt with it.

So I go home waiting for the call from an expert Soarer repairer and good mate Benny C. I get a call saying that he's stuck fixing someone else's car and that he can't do mine today, WTF. So I decided to head to supercheapauto auto to get me some Fast Orange to give my leather the once over and guess who I run into? Ben tells me he's having mega problems with this wake dude's car so I offer my expertise etc.

Cutting an even longer story short I'm about to jump in the car with Jessy to go see Tales from Earthsea Finally a chance to relax a bit today. It would be way cooler if it was a Tales OF Eartsea movie, with all the coolness from the Tales of series. But no, it's a Studio Giblets Movie...

RED DEAD LCD

I wake up this morning to find this:

Needless to say I wasn't very happy. Damn below zero temperatures seem to be skrewing with my electronics. It's working OK now though, but it's going to be need fixing. Never fear I'm turning it into this (minus the Apexi RSM):

MAKING SENSE

Yeah ok I've signed up for Google Adsense... Something that I told myself that I'd never do. And to be honest I don't see much point in in. It's not like I'm going to be making millions with it, I just don't get enough visitors, and I don't care really. We'll see if I actually bother to putting them on my site. I think Adsense stuff is actually pretty ugly plastered all over a site.

Still I'd like to hear actually what an anverage months pay for a blog is. I have a feeling that it's noting going to be mindsnapping. IF I do actually get around to putting ads on the site I'll be happy if I get enough to pay for the hosting. Not that I really have to worry about it but I'm looking for a new host. HostRocket just aren't cutting the mustard anymore. And like Jessy says the webmail sucks ass.

2021

I'm a man of the people, and as such I like to impart the wisdom that I have accumulated over the years from time to time. Not so much because I like you, but more in hopes that on that remote day that you find me in bed with your girlfriend, sister, mom, or pet alpaca you add some tenderness into the subsequent beating I am sure to receive. It's like an insurance policy for assholes.

Thus I give you, after years of meticulous research:

A list of things that I have found not a single one of my girlfriends to enjoy and thus should probably avoided in the future:

* Being called "Mailbox Head."
* Responding to, "Ash, I think that we need to talk," with "About pudding? Gee I sure hope it's about pudding!"
* Requesting that naked time be put off for a few minutes to finish the current level of your videogame.
* Any story from Work.
* Practical jokes involving puppies on fire, even if they are stunt puppies.
* Introducing them to your family as, "Grandma Whiskey Pants."
* No really, don't refer to them as "Mailbox Head." Even if it seems deliciously funny at the time.

THE DIRE NEED

The more and more I think about it I'm glad that I gave up WoW, but now playing .hack\\G.U. I do realise how much I miss an online game. It's so unpredictable with what will happen next. I remember pissing myself at walking into a town, starting to strip and dance and about 50 people following short there after. Ahhh, fun times! I also remember Dueling Lv60 players when I was Lv15, taking 30 mins beating them down (with no armor on them mind you) and just before I win getting one whack and loosing. Cat Form also kicked ass.

However, the more I think about it the more I was upset that I had to pay consistently for a service that I rarely used. Weather I used it or not the counter was constantly ticking down awaiting the next payment for access. Not very good if you can't even fit in 3 or 4 hours a week, probably not so bad if you play 18hours a day 6 days a week like some people.

This is where Maple Story comes in. It looks decent, theres plenty to do and best of all it's free. I don't know anyone that's given it a shot though...

BLEED IT OUT

Ughh, for the past week I've been laid out with one kick ass of a cold. It's absolutely smacked the shit out of me like I was a 10 year old Japanese school girl. It was even a struggle to lay there and murmur a whinge about how shit I was feeling. But thanks to the awesomeness that is a totally gay immune system I got to be acquainted with .hack\\G.U. Vol 1 - Rebirth. (It's been at least a couple of months since I can last remember sitting down and getting stuck into a good bit of PS2 action.)

Other than that I did manage to drag my diseased ass out of bed and install the new "ultra blinding" 6000k HID headlights into the car. Oh they are so bright. Old lights are just a pee color and gay in comparison!

Pretty much besides that I've done nothing but roll around in bed complaining. I did have plans to see the new Pirates Movie among other things, but that shite will have to wait. For now though I seem to be well enough to go back to work, something I'm not overjoyed about, but I could feel a relapse coming on if all the knucklebags in the office keep bothering me *cough* *cough*
