N-GAGEMENT

Proposal

Well everybody, it's finally happened. I mustered up enough gusto to propose to Jessy. Best part is that she agreed to it as well. To be honest I don't think I could be happier at the moment either, I've got a fantastic girl that I'm going to marry, I've thrown a sicky and got the day off work AND I finally managed to get the Series 2 tail lights into Bowser.

Now comes the next inevitable thing of organising engagement parties and stuff.

WE ARE NOW BACK IN SERVICE

Sorry about that folks. I'm now back to blogging. Apparently my host has had some troubles and have been less than speedy getting things back up to scratch...

But now I'm back from the blackness of borken intarwebs!

i'm feeling:exhausted

i-GENERATION

So I managed to get a "preview" off the intarwebs for the new Motion City Soundtrack CD. Very good. I found a higher quality preview and got that as well. Now that I've dumped it on my ipod it seems that it cuts out the last few seconds of each song. I've manage to track down the problem, so I thought I'd share it:

"This is a somewhat known problem, and seems to be a result of the gapless playback analysis that occurs when you import the tracks into iTunes the first time.

Basically, the iTunes database is storing an end-of-track marker and passing it to the iPod in order to properly support gapless playback for those albums that require it (although all such tracks are tagged in this manner).

However, this marker is based on an absolute byte position in the file. Of course, since a 192kbps file is 50% larger than a 128kbps file, when you replace the underlying files, the iTunes marker still points to the same physical end-of-file position, which will now be about 2/3rds of the way through the track, rather than at the actual end.

Likewise, if you were to convert your files to a lower bit-rate and then replace the underlying files, you'd actually lose gapless playback entirely (since the marker would now be well past the actual end of the file).

The bottom line is that replacing underlying tracks is not supported by iTunes, and technically never has been something that you're supposed to do. With the gapless playback analysis, however, this becomes all the more obvious.

Unfortunately, the only way around it is to either re-rip the CDs through iTunes itself (it will offer to replace the tracks for you in the process, and reperform the necessary gapless analysis), or delete your existing tracks from your library and import the newly-ripped tracks as new entries, which will unfortunately result in losing your ratings, playcounts and playlist references for those tracks."

Oh, and I stole that awesome explanation from some forum...

STEPPING FORWARD IN TIME

So after my little accident the other day I got a thinking, why should I bother pulling apart the whole front end, replace my high beams and then be unhappy cause I've never really like the 91-96 front bars on the Soarer and again I'd be stuck with Plastic High beam housings, just gay. I could replace the housings with the updated glass ones and get the bar painted again, but again, I'd have to pull the whole thing apart to do it. I've always really liked the 97 Front end Soarer. There not overly different, but they add a touch of class and difference to something that's becoming fairly common on the roads today. The only down side of changing is that I loose my turning lamps, something that can't be avoided, but they are replaced with fog lamps, which I think will work out better on long trips, something much more usable and having a little bit of extra light.

So for well under couple of grand I've ordered an entire 1997+ Soarer front end, which includes:
- Series 3 Bumper Bar
- Foam Absorber
- Front Chrome Grill
- Series 3 Fog Light Lamps
- New Girffin Badge (Black Edging)

I still have to get the bar painted AND track down the Glass High Beam Housings, but it shouldn't be too hard as I've already got a place to paint the bar and hopefully will get an email about some glass housings today...

Now if I can get you all to use your imaginations... you know what screw it I'll just show you. Basically this is what it will look like but with a way less gay color... ewww teal!

DOWN ON MY HEAD

Ughhh... I just had a prang in BOWSER. How annoying. Luckily there isn't too much damage that I can see, just looks like the high beams are sitting a little funny... probably borken.

NOT ALONE!

I just saw one of those “authorised by the Australian Government, Canberra” type Work Places adverts. The opening line went something along the lines of:

The biggest myth is that employees are alone and unprotected, but that’s just not true. They are not alone!

Read between the lines. Tell me why I laughed!

BIRTHDAY SURPRISE

Anne
EH EH EEEEEEHHHHHHHHHH!

Yes, it be my birthday today. Amazing how much you can learn on a birthday. You age for starters, therefore your a little wiser than you were the year before. One of the more interesting things I find out is how many of my so called "friends" really do pay attention to things I say. Some that are more than happy to ask for help and advice all hours of the night on all manner of things but can't even muster up the gusto to send your truly an email or SMS... Pathetic really.

Well I guess I can't be too unhappy. I did clean up some pretty decent stuff (circa $$$)today.

i'm feeling:bouncy

HURRICAINE CRACKNELL

The hurricane that is my sister and her family has arrived. It's nice to seem them, even if they are a bit messy. Family is important and she's made a special trip from the good old state that is victoria to see me.

They aren't staying for long, which is a shame. As the parentals leave for US of A thursday next week it would have been nice to have some company. There's businesses to run etc. so I can understand. Doesn't make it any less dissapointing though.
