We'll start with the basics. Now this stuff is the genuine Japanese Pocky and some might say the best, but that isn't me. You get 2 individually wrapped packets in the box, which isn't too bad if you plan on sharing (I don't). It's pretty fucking tasty and really good if you need a genuine fix. Although very fucking nice it does get rather samey after a while. Sometimes you just need to mix things up a little. Still your’re missing out if you don't try it at least once. Sure it hasn't changed much since 1965 but it can still hold it's own.
Reverse pocky isn't just a gimmicky sell point. It's actually mixed up the whole pocky formulat buy putting the oh so delicious chocolate in the middle of a yummy biscuit stick. There isn't many in the packet either, which is a shame becuase it's fucking nice. All the chocolate goes all goey on a warm day as well. You won't want to share, so if anyone tries to steal one break their theiving fucking mits cause I told you to.
Do you entertain the thoughts of sesame flavoured chocolate without whacking off? If that's you then look no further. Now this shite a good running contender for BEST.POCKY.EVER award. If you know me, you know I love black sesame so naturally I was excited to try some Black Sesame (Kurogoma) Pocky flavoured goodness. For starters you get 4 packets in a box, which rox-sox so damn hard. It's not a sweet tasting Pocky, as a matter of fact if can get bitter if you stuff 5 or 6 in your mouth at once. Damn it's good, if you see it try it, you'll love it, if you don't either gay or a German Nazi, or a gay-german-nazi.
There's yet another exciting flavour of Pocky goodness that makes you go Mmmmm. Its Almond Crush Pocky, not to be confused with it's more mysterious and somewhat darker brother Dark Almond Crush Pocky. Is it nice? Fuck yeah. But what's holding it back is the rather small amount you get for your hard earned $$$. See there's only like 5 in a packet, with 4 packets in a box, that's like 20 x Pocky for a more pricey box, As the name suggest is a Pocky stick with smashed up almonds all over it. It has a Pepero Cousin, its defiantly not as nice, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper and does the job just fine.
Pretty much exactly the same as above but I like it better cause I love dark chocolate. Mmmm Fuck yeah it's good. I get wood just thinking about it. Oh and there's not cheap nasty knock off for this either.
The concept of Mousse Pocky always bewildered me so I never really too much notice of it. How do you get Mousse on a stick with out it sticking to the packet? Well it turns out someone has figured it out, and what you left with is 3 packets of 5 of delicious aero-chocolate mouse goodness. It’s kind of a bit fluffy, but still very firm. The sticks are different than your average pocky and the Chocó coating a lot thicker. I've had better pocky, but this is still pretty tasty, also I could have sworn that I saw some mousse pepero at one stage... Hmmm
I mean what the fuck is this stuff? You think Mmm grape, being purple and all. But no apparently it's some kind of weird Japanese purple sweet potato flavour. I'm not whacking you of, do the research yourself. Now the strangest thing about it is that it's actually pretty fucking nice. It's not crowd pleasing winner but you'd still rather eat it that a lot of the inferior pocky that are around. There's 3 packs of 5 in a box, there should probably be more, but remmeber it's a mousse pocky. Light and fluffy. Get over the fact it's sweet potato and it's pretty decent.
There is now White Decorer Pocky. It's branded as cake on a stick and it's not too far off. The best part is that it's fucking tasty. Like really, really yum. The sticks are covered with yummy, wispy white chocolate that's very sweet and smooth. The down side is for the price you don't get very many. There are only 4 packets of 3 per box. It's a premium pocky for a reason; it's just a shame you don't get that many. Not that you'll want it, unless you've got a hardcore sweet tooth. It really is a little too sweet for my taste, but it's presented very well and taste's all white chocolaty.
There is more than one type of the "Decorer" branded Pocky goodness. This one is in fact something a little different. Mont Blanc with Coffee and Chestnut, it's thick and cake-mixy like the other decorer Pocky but it definatly has a distinct coffee hint to it and something I could put my finger on when I first tried it, that turned out to be the chestnut. Again, as with the other Decorer Pocky you only get a measly 4 packs of 3, which is ok as it's not very good. Sweet chocolate-coffee-chestnut Pocky should really be left in Japan where it belongs with Scat Pron and pantie vending machines... Bleh
Ichigo 50%, it's another strawberry pocky, and I don't really like Strawberry flavoured things. There's at least 2 different packets for this stuff. I actually got conned into thinking they were different so I got two. The actual stick is coated in 50% dried strawberries, or so the box says. I was very surprised how good it was when I bit the bullet and bit down. It's not overly sweet, like some pocky (See White decorer Pocky), and not overly strawberry either. The dried strawberry makes it crunchy and pleasant. In your standard box there are 4 packs of 5, for me that was plenty, even if I know I'll get a craving for it later.
PATANG!~ It's the "Pinecream: flavoured Pocky coming at you. God I hate pineapple so very very much. I don't know how anyone could like that crap. Pineapple anything is crapola!, but just like strawberry, I'll review it cause I said I would. The pinecream is actually pretty decent if you give it half a chance. I can't remember how much you get in a pack, it went that damn quickly. It's hella tangy, which it's probably why I like it, but also the reason I don't like Pineapple's... I wouldn't say it's straight out Pineapple but it's definatly got a bit of taste to it. This is the kind of Pocky your either going to love or like. It's not terrible, but it's no Men's Pocky either. Give it a bash if there's nothing else on the shelf.More Flavours Coming Soon!
So which Pocky do I think is the best?
Well we'll just have to wait and see on what ones I review... so skrew you!
